tapai.

Assalamualaykum.

I promised K Ruby to post a picture of tapais I bought for open house that day.
I know this is wa--------------------y belated.
But I wanna show it anyway.
Especially to those that don't know how traditional tapais look like.
Wrapped in rubber leaves.

Aaaaahhh~
I feel like eating tapai now.
And FYI, the best way to enjoy the tapais is to put them in the refrigerator and then eat them cold.
Yummmmmmmmmmmmy!!

Wassalam.

P/S: Actually I couldn't find a topic to write,.. hence the tapais. He he he.

2 sen.

Assalamualaykum.

First of all,let me confess.
I'm not a Pitt fan.
Or a Pitt-Jolie fan, for that matter.
But I like this picture.

Why do I like this picture, you asked?
Because that's Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for Heaven's sake.
And they're riding on a bike similar to what those Mat Rempits are doing their stupid stunts with.
No, I won't go on and nag about the Rempits now.
Truth be told, when I first saw the picture in our local newspaper yesterday it touched my heart.
It showed me the simple side of the multimillionaire actors.
The humbleness, their modesty.
(Yeah, maybe the bodyguards were tailing them, but heck! That's not the point.]

After 'admiring' the photo, I laughed.
Why? [No, I'm not insane. I'll get to my point later.]

I was comparing our local entertainment artists [singers and actors] with the Hollywood ones.
Don't you think we're becoming more and more like them?
When I said 'we',I was referring to our Malaysian artists.
Just look at how the female ones dressed nowadays.
I bet you can't find one that would wear a 'selipar Jepun' in public like Jolie did. He he he.
In some occasions, when there were local and international artists in them, our Malaysian artists outdid the international ones in terms of bearing more skin rather than covering them.
[I actually saw one in a newspaper, but couldn't find it in the net for me to share with you.Even if I did, I'd smudge the face so that none can tell who was it.LOL]
Sigh~

The recent happenings were even more dissappointing pour moi.
Some of the artists had the most glamorous so-called wedding of the year and the next thing you hear, the couple is already filing a divorce.
What a waste of money. Bet the orphans could use it for a better cause.
In my humble opinion, this isn't a healthy thing to do.
Then again, we don't really know what happen in their relationship so we can't comment much, can we?

The world is changing.
And Malaysia is globalized faster and faster.
I'm not saying that the artists are all BAD EXAMPLES [to our youth especially].
I do look up to some that have done really well in their career.
But even if the world is changing, we must not forget our roots, right?

I'm being bias, I know.
Just my 2 sen worth of opinion-lah.
No hard feelings, everyone..

Pitt is gorgeous, isn't he?
But not as handsome as my Redford [yet].

Wassalam.

Aaaaaaahhh~

Assalamualaykum.

Did I ever mention I love ROBERT REDFORT so much??
For a man his age, I think he's HOT.
You don't think so??
Think again.

Aaaaaaahhh~

Apart from his good looks [albeit the fact that he goes for "nip/tuck" occassionally], he's one of my favourite actor of all time.
I would cry every time I watch him and Michelle Pfeiffer in "Up Close & Personal".
Reason being, he died in that movie.
I usually hate sad ending movies, but I made exception for this piece.
And just tonight, I managed to see him in "Indecent Proposal", with Demi Moore.
Again he made me cry.
No, he didn't die in this one in case you are wondering.
I cried because he was being a true gentleman, letting Demi go for another guy [who she was more in love with, and happened to be her husband.]
I know it sounds stupid, but I won't bore you with the whole storyline.
He's my man. Period.

When can I meet MY Robert Redfort?
He he he.

Wassalam~

(Feel like vomitting?? Yes, you may do so now. LOL)

c.h.a.n.g.e.s

Assalamualaykum.

"Change is good always."
- Rubyahmad

When was the last time you received a mail, may I ask?
Handwritten, from your loved ones, friends or family?
Letters telling you about their lives..
Or a card wishing you happiness on your birthday or congratulating you for your graduation..
With their signatures at the bottom of the page etc.
Or better still, when was the last time YOU WROTE someone a letter?
And the last time you send someone a card?
Find your way to a post office to post it?
Can't recall any of those?

Sounds ridiculous, ain't it?
Why the hassle when everything is just a mere click away?
We have emails now, so why bother writing on a piece of paper?
Then after we have finished writing, to complete the process, we have to look for an envelope, stamps etc.
And do we still have to go to a Hallmark store and pick a card when it has a website where we can send free ecards to friends and family in no time.
SMS?? MMS?? Those are even easier.

But I love getting "real" mails / cards.
Don't we all?
The feeling is different, slightly.
Because for me, when someone writes a letter/card, [and then to have it sent via the postal service etc], it shows effort.
Such effort does have an effect to me.
The letters are more personal, exclusive..

I'm not denying the importance of the advancement in technology that we have now.
On the contrary, I am grateful for it.
Just that it slowly reduced the need to take a piece of paper, writing on it and get it posted.

What am I getting at actually?
Nothing.
I was reading this in zzeed's blog and it triggered me to write.
That's all.

So I guess, this is one of the changes we have to accept.

Wassalam~

[Phewwww~ Finally managed to put my fingers running on the keyboard and post something for y'all to read. The last few weeks of school days were hectic. And yes, people. School break has started! I'm enjoying every minute of it~]

AL-FATIHAH.

Assalamualaykum.

I got a phone call from a collegue just now.
A student of mine (Year 3) kembali ke rahmatullah approximately at 6pm on Friday.
Siti Nurain Azmi was an active student, who loved reading and very hardworking.
Semoga Allah mencucuri rahmat ke atas rohnya.

AL-FATIHAH. ~

Budak koma 4 hari dirempuh motosikal

“Ain mula menggerakkan kakinya sedikit, malam semalam.

Kisah Benar

Assalamualaykum.

Please read.
This is my neighbour's story.

Budak selamatkan nenek

"Saya sedang menonton televisyen.

I saw the grandmother (known as Su Bah), and she was clueless, speechless.
Seeing her house burnt down just before break fast on Friday.
Thank God no one was hurt.

This is after all a 'dugaan' from Allah.

Takziah and Wassalam.

Heart @1 Ramadhan 1427H

Assalamualaykum.

Currently this song has been marked as "repeat one" in my iTunes.
(That means only that song will be repeated in my playlist.)
Just thought of sharing my latest favourite Indonesia song (since Dealova.)

My Heart
Irwansyah feat. Acha Septriasa

Di sini kau dan aku
Terbiasa bersama
Menjalani kasih sayang
Bahagia kudenganmu

Pernahkah kau menguntai
Hari paling indah
Ku ukir nama kita berdua
Di sini surga kita

Bila kita mencintai yang lain
Mungkin kah hati ini akan tegar
Sebisa mungkin tak akan pernah
Sayang ku akan hilang

If we love somebody
Could we be this strong
I will fight to win
Our love will conquer all
Wouldn't *reach* my love
Even just one night
Our love will stay in my heart
My heart...

Pernahkah kau menguntai
Hari paling indah
Ku ukir nama kita berdua
Di sini surga kita

Bila kita mencintai yang lain
Mungkin kah hati ini akan tegar
Sebisa mungkin tak akan pernah
Sayang ku akan hilang

Bila kita mencintai yang lain
Mungkin kah hati ini akan tegar
Sebisa mungkin tak akan pernah
Sayang ku akan hilang

If we love somebody
Could we be this strong
I will fight to win
Our love will conquer all
Wouldn't *reach* my love
Even just one night
Our love will stay in my heart
My heart...

SELAMAT BERPUASA TO ALL MUSLIM reading this blog.
May this blessed month of Ramadhan brings happiness and Rahmah from Allah.
Let's pray that we will find peace around the world.
InsyaAllah.

*Is it "reach"? Correct me if it's not the word.

hobby??

Assalamualaykum.

When I couldn't get online for a day, I became like a cacing kepanasan, you know.
Felt like something's wrong the whole day.
Incomplete.
It's also frustrating when I couldn't think of anything to write.
Mental block.
So, the next best thing is always Photoshop.
Brushing up my skills in photo editing and/or drawing.

(Took 2 days to finish this.Haha)

But for these past few days (since the server's down), I managed to try the Picasa software my friend Nana used (to edit the pix) in her blog.

I personally like this 'picture pile' feature.
The only setback is that we can't pile the pictures manually.

Hanging out with mis amigos.

Another feature is 'picture grid'.
Allows you to assemble pictures in one file.
Like this one too, but looks boring, kan?
:)

Apple(s) of my eyes:
Hasif Hilman,Fatimah Naquiyah,Haziq Husaini,Hassan AnNuqman,Muaz

My eye-candy:
Hyeon Bin (from the KDrama My Name's Kim Sam Soon)

So people, when I'm not teaching, or surfing the net, or updating my blog or running away from my boss this what I do.
Thanks Shambie for introducing me to Photoshop (hence this hobby).
And Nana, for suggesting Picasa to Deya (and indirectly to me).

Have a great weekend.
I won't coz I'll be working!!!

Wassalam.

Grandma's secrets.

Assalamualaykum.

Ever wasted your money on beauty products that don't work on you?
Fret not as this post might have something to offer.
Beauty care and women, simply can't be separated.

I have been meaning to share this with everyone the moment I read the article by Syida Litza Amirul Ihsan. (NST Life&Times, Aug 14)
And since I could not find the article in its web,(to simply copy and paste) so I took a longer time to re-type the petua for you.
My super busy week has ended when my students sat for their last UPSR English paper last Wednesday.
Phewwww~

Yeah, I agree that these recipes are not clinically proven.
Be cool. No harm in trying, right?
These are our grandmothers secret beauty solution to everything.
Plus you can simply get the ingredients straight out of your kitchen.
Not that they'll cost you a fortune. :)
So, here goes... ~

To achieve smooth skin:
Try mashing a ripe tomato (as you would potatoes). Then plaster the paste on your face, just like the facial mask. Let it dry for 20 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Do it 2-3 times a week.

Or, you can mix a little tamarind with warm water and a spoonful of tapioca flour. Mix until it becomes thick before smothering it on your face. Let it dry for 15 minutes and then rinse.

For porcelain-like skin:
Drink pegaga juice mixed with carrot. It may not the sweetest-tasting drink but it's healthy and natural. (Don't add sugar! Won't do the trick.)

Elastic skin??:
Mix tapioca flour and mashed cucumber and add a little water to dilute the mixture. Use itlike a face mask and rinse once it is dry. The cool essence of cucumber will also help refresh the tired skin.

Wrinkle problem:
Carrots help. Add a spoonfulof corn flour to a small bowl of grated carrot and add one egg yolk. After mixing well, the mixture is pasted on wrinkled skin. Do it once everyday for best results.

Long lashes:
Mascara?? Extensions?! No need those as you can try using some aloe vera essence and stroke it on your lashes before going to bed. Do it frequently and Insya Allah your lashes will be long and healthy.

To avoid hair falling:
Take a few hibiscus leaves and aloe vera. Wash them and blend until the mixture becomes slimy. Rub the mixture onto your scalp and hair and wait for an hour before rinsing. Do it twice a week and in time, your hair will become thick and shiny.

Dandruff?!:
Squeeze kaffir lime (limau purut) or lime juice on the scalp and leave for a few hours. Better still, wrap your hair in towel. Rinse with warm water.

Cracked heels:
Try bathing your feet in a pool of warm water with asam gelugor. Do it for 30 minutes every day until your heels heal.

To get rid of tired eyes:
Sliced cucumbers (refrigerated) or used teabags placed on your eyes for 20 minutes will do the trick. Eyes will feel cool and fresh. Just remember to line the teabags with a piece of tissue before placing them on your eyes. Or else the raccoon effect will be visible. :)

"Selamat Mencuba!!"

Wassalam~

hp

HP stands for Hewlett Packard or HANDPHONE???
Ha ha ha.

Assalamualaykum.
For your information, this past couple of days I've been hp-hunting throughout the Net.
Not that I'm buying one A.S.A.P, but will be la, insyaAllah.
To be exact, I was looking for a PDA phone with 3G connection enabled.
And at last, I found what I was searching for:

That 'thing' is called O2 Xda Trion.
I was drooling when I read the specifications.
Almost everything that I need in a PDA, Trion has them.
(Except for FM Radio.)
The sad thing is, the phone has yet to come to Malaysia.
And when it does, you can guess-la its price, right??!

I remembered K Ruby once told me she wanted a Vertu phone.
Truth be told, that was the first time I came across that brand.
And when I looked through the web (carefully this time), I was double shocked to know that the meterials used for Vertu phones are so out of this world I couldn't dare to imagine their price.
Below is the picture of Vertu Diamond.
Not sure whether this is the one that K Ruby's longing for.
(Or are you more interested with the PINK edition? :) )

So, K Ruby..hopefully you'll get your Vertu soon.
My Trion will have to wait a while la.
Waiting for my bonus. LOL

Daaaaaaaa~

Bliss..

"Long absent, soon forgotten." -Spanish proverb.

Assalamualaykum.

After reading that quote yesterday, I quickly decided to blog.
Afraid that friends might forget me if I don't write. He he.
Truth be told, I had a long list of things that I want to share with those who are reading my oh-so-lame blog. (not that there are many..ha ha..)
But as always, whenever I actually ready to post an entry, none of them came into mind.
(At this moment a very beautiful Hindi song is on air. Can't recall from which movie, but it's very soothing.)

The whole of last week Malaysians were busy with Her Royal Coyness' (referring to Suraya Al-Attas' nick for (now Datin) Siti) wedding etc.
In fact just last night her big wedding reception was broadcasted, and I heard that there were so many VVIPs attended that event.
(K Ruby, were you there?? He he he.)
Oh,FYI, I didn't watch the live telecast.
Take a guess which channel I watched last night? LOL
Congratulations to Siti and husband anyway, may this be her first and last marriage.
Aminnnnnnnnnn~

Anyhoo, yesterday I finally managed to visit the Istana Budaya's website.
Was trying to look for the infos (for my dearest K Ruby) on Mawi's concert there in mid September.

I was reading seen_er's blog this morning when I read about the Konsert Irama Tanah Pusaka II which he and future wifey attended.
Seemed like they had a great time at Istana Budaya.
And I bet K Ruby's also planning to catch Boney M's show this weekend.
Hopefully she'll have a splendid time too.

As for yours truly, the true entertainment awaits tomorrow.
And it is in the form of me spending time with my nephews and niece.

Till then, have a nice day today.

childlike.

Assalamualaykum.

Last Thursday I managed to meet up with my best friend Aboon as she was around for her cousin's "bekwoh".
We went to Perkampungan Hadhari to catch a glimpse of Mawi.
(Okay, I dragged her there.. so what?! =p)

MAWI???????!!!
Typical,ey?? Or lame??
Ha ha ha.
Call me whatever you like but I was determined to meet him since the last few times he came down to Kelate, I was not able to make it.

I was very satisfied as I got to see him 2 times (at different booths).
I told Aboon that it was the 'kanak-kanak' side of me, wanting to meet Mawi so much.
Too bad the fans were not allowed to take pictures with him.
A bit dissappointing but heck, I got to meet him eye-to-eye.

That day we also got to see Que Haidar, the actor.
I think he won the Most Promising Male Actor in the previous Malaysia Film Festival.
Aboon was over excited, actually. Ha ha.
But he was an eye candy, reminds us of the late Allahyarham Sudirman.

Will be blogging again some time soon.
Adios,chicas!!

oh,Tijah!!

Assalamualaykum,

Last Thursday a friend of mine sent me a forwarded message.
I usually don't give a damn when this kind of messages interrupted my inbox.
I had a real good laugh whilst reading the message.
But being a 'responsible' teacher, I think I should share this with you readers.

Apparently this was (according to my old pal), Tijah's (pseudonym) attempt to break off the relationship with her Mat Salleh boyfriend.

Hi,
My motive write this letter to give know you something.
I WANT TO CUT CONNECTION US.
I saw you play wood three in front my eyes.
So, I break connection to pull my body from this love.
I have think about this very cook-cook.
I know I clap one hand only.
I don't trust you again!
You are really crocodile land!!
I don't want you to play-play with my liver.
I have been crying until no more eye water.
I don't want banana to fruit two times.
SAFE WALK!!

Do you think her boyfriend got the idea?
LOL.

This is what I've been telling my little students, you know.
The dangers of direct translation!
Even though there are some BM phrases that we can translate directly (and also grammatically correct), most of the time they can't.

My way to curb this problem is, (for me) by reading.
Familiarize ourselves with the language.
Then we won't end up giving false ideas to somebody.
This is what yours truly is doing too, read and write in English as much as I can.
(Pastu French dah tak ingat langsung! Je ne sais pas pourquoi!!)

In Tijah's case, we should give her credit la for trying.
Don't you think?

So, the moral of the story is....?

Reorganized.

Assalamualaykum.

I've rearranged the left sidebar so it looks more organized.
Feel free to browse my fellow thoroughbreds' blogs and others.
Some of them are very interesting to read!
And I've also put links to my favourite download sites.
If you have better suggestions for [free mp3] download sites, do tell me.
Why? I'm looking for Oasis' STAND BY ME for ages, but to no avail.

Will be blogging some other time.
Soon, I hope so.
Take care my dears.

food (glorious food of Kelate)

Assalamualaykum.

If some of you notice, in my Alma Mater's blog nowadays there seem to have a discussion on Kelantan in almost every comment of the previous entries.
The people, the dialects and obviously its (glorious and yummy) food.
I was browsing the Net to find pictures of "akok" for K Ruby when I found this fotopages.
http://raykinzoku.fotopages.com/
It's a Kelantanese fotopage where the author diplays his (or is it her?) collection of Kelate pictures.
The buildings in KB, the billboards (with models wearing tudung and Jawi font) etc.
And of course, my favourite is "Jalae-jalae Carghi Makae pt 1+2" (Jalan-jalan Cari Makan).
Looking at those pictures, made me homesick.
(Yeah, I'm only 1 1/2 hour away from KB but still, I miss Kelate so much!)

To K Ruby, this is especially for you:

The akok's from Nik Yam, and it's delicious. (I think my sister usually buys akok from this makcik.)
But the best from Nik Yam is obviously the "Murtabak diRaja" (Royal Murtabak).
The murtabak has I think about 5 layers, it's so thick (about 1 1/2 inches) and has a lot of filling.
*gulp*
(my,my...I'm drooling~)

And according to raykinzoku, the best ayam perchik is not the ones from the famous Yati Ayam Perchik (as opposed to mr seen_er's opinion and mine too).
But they are from Kak Nah's Ayam Perchik.
(Yes, I also am not familiar with it, but I'll look for it after this.)
By the way, this is Kak Nah (I think) and her mouth-watering Ayam and Ikan Perchik.

Looks yummmmmmy? Slurpppppppppp~
Anyway, the kuih in the plastic container is "wajik" I think.
Or known as "nasi manis" to the Kelantanese.
That was my arwah Tok We's special.

Fyi, when I was surfing the net, I found an interesting blog.
The author is from Terengganu if I'm not mistaken.
He translated Chairil Ahmad's poem into Terengganu dialect and 'twas hilarious.
Funny, but I'll write more about it next week.

My students have just finished their UPSR trials, and I'm off to Kota Bharu in a few minutes.
Gonna visit "Pesta Makanan" at Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV with my sister.
He he he he.

Love?

Assalamualaykum

I got this from my friend's blog.
Actually I could just put a link in the entry, but permission's given by the author for me to paste her post in my blog. (thanks, love!)
Anyhoo, it's a good topic you know.
I wanted to touch on this issue too, but since I haven't had any experience in this 'field' so I thought I could wait.
But heck, just read my friend Nadea's blurb. Correction, wise words.

How soon is too soon?

So your eyes met across the hall. He checked you out several times. You watched his every movement from the corner of your eyes, discreetly, of course. He came towards you, nearer. You pura2 tak notice, shy la konon. He came up to you, saying hi. You smiled and said hi back. He asked for your name, your fon number, said you have the nicest smile he has ever seen and all of the other famous pick up lines. He tore himself away, minutes later, your fon number in hand and promised to call. You and your butterflies in the stomach went home.

So you went out on the first, second and third date and convinced yourself this is not just another fling. Came the third week after the first date he professed his undivided love for you. You felt like you were on top of the world. "I finally met the man of my dreams", you thought. You declare that day as the day you guys become a couple.

You started calling each other the obligatory 'sayang', or 'bee' or whatever trendy terms of endearment you kids use today, a few days
later.

You celebrated your 1-month anniversary. He wrote that he never met anyone as special as you. He declared his undying love from the bottom of his heart and said he could never love anyone else as he did you. You complied.

2 months later, you broke up. No more. Nada. You started calling each other names, bad names. You left him angry emails or voice messages.

Total pre-couple period = 3 weeks
Total undying love period = 3 months
Real time and energy spent = countless

Was it really worth it?

=|

Assalamualaykum.

In the spirit of sharing, this is what I got from browsing through Jakim's web.
Hopefully this can be a guide to us all.

Q:
My friends and I enjoy celebrating occasions, which are not in the Islamic calender like St. Valentines's Day, because we just like to be part of the joyous atmosphere. We've been told that this is not encouraged in Islam. My question is what does Islam has to say about celebrating such occasions? Please give me some advice. Thank you.

A:
Celebrating Valentine Day is not suitable to the Islamic moral values that usually encourage Muslims to live in a loving family life according to Islamic law. Muslims who do not fulfill their responsibilities in the Islamic way are sinful. According to the historical point of view, Valentine's Day is not an Islamic practice.

Hence why bother celebrating it?
Everyday can be a 14th of February, don't we think?
Roses bloom throughout the whole year.
One does not need a specific date to celebrate the so-called "lover's day".

a 'MATCH' made in Heaven!!

Assalamualaykum.

This morning after the game I couldn't wait to get online.
It seemed like there were so many things I wanted to write in today's entry.
But now, my mind just got numb.
I'm too overwhelmed to write.
Too proud of the Italians winning The Cup.
A bit over reacting,eyy?

For y'all out there, yours truly even shed tears after the game ended.
Tears of joy, that is.
Finally I got to know how 'menangis kerana gembira' felt.
The cause of my emotional act was because I feel that the Azzurris had gone through a lot this WC.
The scandals with their Serie A,the tribunals they've got to face, etc.
Even so, I think the pressure got them together as one.
I was touched to see how they played as a team.
The cooperation [especially the defenders] was superb.
Their fighting spirit was just AMAZING.
The BEAUTY of football was right in front of my very eyes this morning.

Okay, now I'm getting excited to write more, so bare with me.

I don't fancy France since the '98 WC.
I know they've got great players namely Zizou, Vieira, Barthez etc..
They progressed the next couple of years by winning Euro 2000 but that was it.
WC 2002 was a total disaster for Les Bleus.
But this time around they bucked up.
Henry did well, he managed to score a few goals in Germany 2006.
Good for him.
The sad fact is, I think Les Bleus won the matches by chance most of the time.
And they were too dependant on their maestro capitan Zinedine Zidane.
Without old Zizou, Les Bleus seemed lost.
[The same with Portugal without L.Figo but that's another story.]
This opinion of mine might hurt those who've been supporting France, but hey.. it's a free country we live in.
People critisized Ronaldo(Cristiano) too, and I accepted it 'almost' professionally. [he he he]

I'm just too happy with the result-lah.
There's no further explanation to that.
It was a beautiful game, most memorable one yet very nerve-racking.
Called my Azzurri's partner in crime right after the final *PSO.
Man, I could barely hear her voice as she was crying too.
[You were..right, Azi? I know I was.. =)]

I'm posting some pictures of the game.
Right after I Photoshop-ed them.
Till then, have a great day today.
I know I will.
Wassalam.

*Penalty Shoot Out.

defeated!!

Assalamualaykum.

I missed the game this morning, and regretting it badly.
Even though Portugal lost the battle against the Germany who played on the home ground, I think there's always some hope in the future.
Euro 2008's coming, and I surely hope 'Big Phil' Scolari will stay by the Potuguese's side.
I'm so devastated, I can't write any longer.
Just go to fifaworldcup.com to get the details regarding the match.
Yes, Portugal was defeated 3-1.
*crying out loud*

Well, let's get this football frenzy over and done with early tomorrow morning.
Azzurri will play against Les Bleus and my bet's definitely NOT on the latter.
The Italians have gone through rough time this WC and I think they deserve to win.
Unless lady luck brings good fortune again for the French.
Then that'll leave the Azzurris open mouthed~

Forza Azzurri & Au Revoir Les Bleus!!

tribute

Assalamualaykum.

As promised, these are a few pix of the 'obnoxious' Cristiano Ronaldo.
[That's what he was referred as in NST].
Give him a break, people.
Darah muda, hence the nasty attitude.
No doubt he's a great football player.
Please excuse the pix as most of them only show his back.

crushed!

If only Henry had not been tackled
If only Zidane did not ace the penalty kick
If only Ronaldo was pushed down in the penalty box
If only Figo got the ball straight into the goal
If only LUCK was on Portugal's side
Then I wouldn't feel so down this morning.

Assalamualaykum.

It's been a while since my last post.
Well, blame the internet connection at my workplace.
There was a problem with the server last week hence no connection with the outside world pour moi the whole of last week.
But I had great time watching football.
Quarter final match when France defeated Brazil and the awesome semi final match Germany against Italy.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
The latter brings joy the most.
The last 2-minutes of the extra timed game was just amazing.

But, sad to say my second choice Portugal lost their battle early this morning.
I was crushed.*crying out loud*
That's why the short poem came up.
I was so devastated with their lost I didn't watch the last 5 minutes of the game.
Looking at the French vigorous defence team, I didn't think Portugal could break them easily.
Shheeesh~
And the verdict was as expected.
Portugal lost 1-nil to France.
Man, I hate France so much.
They are sooooooooo lucky!!!

All's been done, so I just hope the Portuguese will buck up and defeat Germany in the next match for third place.
Will be posting the pix of MY man in action [Cristiano Ronaldo] later.
Something wrong with blogger now I can't upload anymore pix.
So, until next time....
FORZA ITALIA!!! (he he he)

Bye² WC

Assalamualaykum.

[Hannover..It's OVER..]

Heard the fatal verdict yesterday morning.
Switzerland proudly defeated Daehanminguk 2-nil.
There goes Korea's hope to qualify for the knock-out stage.
If only they won over France during the second match, then the scenario would be different.
Sigh~
Won't be seeing Ahn in 2010 World Cup I think.
By then he would be 34.
Too old to run around the field.

Well, even though my Daehanminguk team lost their battle, I still am enjoying the matches and looking forward to know which country will be going back with the Cup.
Brazil has won all their matches and they are very likely to be in the finals.
Spain and Portugal performed well too and won all three games.
And I think Germany did well in all their matches.
Maybe being the host helps them boost their fighting spirit.
If that's the case, Argentina will face difficulties in the quarter final.
But nothing is to be sured in football.
Not until the final whistle is blown.

Till then, have a good football watching.
May the best team win.

Wassalam.

Subhanallah

Assalamualaykum.
What a sad,sad way to start my day.
Today, I had to start off my new day with a shocking discovery.
(At least to me it IS shocking.)
I was browsing through friendster and found this picture which I'm going to share with you guys.

I have edited the above picture.
Enough said it is somebody I know.
Not a friend, but I know her from my school days.
She is undoubtful a Malay and MUSLIM.

What really annoyed me is that she had the NERVE to actually post a picture like that publicly.
Holding a bottle of alcohol and looked proud of being able to do that.
Even if she didn't take the alcohol, *(which I find to be quite doubtful), what's she trying to prove by doing such act?
Allah forbids us to consume alcohol.
Period.

Sorry readers, but I don't find this as a sensitive issue.
Not even a little bit.
Because when it comes to Islam law, things are absolute, non-negotiable.
I know I'm not the best person to talk about this, because I too am not a perfect Muslimah.
But who is? Rather than our Rasulullah (pbuh).
Even more when it is the issue of consuming alcohol we are talking about.
Man, it doesn't take a genius to tell you that alcohol is prohibited in Islam.
If you ask my 7-year old students, they will definitely tell you that "ARAK TU HARAM!!!"
So why is a person with a brain (bigger and fuller than mine and my lil' students), can't even differ which is correct or wrong.

I don't know what else to say.
Readers please excuse my tone in today's entry.
This is so distressful pour moi.
Hopefully Daehanminguk team will bring joy to me tonight with a winning game against France.
InsyaAllah.
In a nutshell, DON'T DRINK (alcohol).

Wassalam.

*in another picture she regarded herself and a friend as drunkens.

YAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Assalamualaykum.

A brilliant strike from Daehanminguk's hottest striker Ahn Junghwan ensures Korea's place on top of the Group G.
France's draw against Switzerland means a double celebration pour moi.
I enjoyed the game last night, even though the first half was a torture when Togo played their best and lead with 1 goal.
When Junghwan entered the second half, Daehanminguk's team spirit was lifted.
They played better, and attacked more than they did in the first half.
Geez, I was too overwhelmed by their glory, I can't stop smiling today.

The truth is I REALLY enjoyed the game.
I really do.
People tend to say that girls only go by the looks.
They support England just because Beck's on the team.
Or Brazil because the world renowned Ronaldinho or Ronaldo.
And also because Brazil have won the WC 4 times already.
Well, that opinion is half true.

As for me, looks is just a BIG BONUS to the players who play well.
Ahn Junghwan is one of the fortunate ones.
That's why he was crowned a the Man of The Match in last night's game against Togo.
I quote:

TSG member James Selby said: "The reason why I chose Ahn as the Budweiser Man of the Match is that he made an instant impact after he came on as a substitute.

"He was aggressive in his attacking and he increased the tempo of the match. Also, his movement was good, his passing was quick and he scored a great goal.

"But I also want to mention Park (Ji-Sung). He had a good game too, but Ahn made more of an impact, so he is the Man of the Match."

But it is no doubt that Daehanminguk's victory came from their cooperation and team work.
Hence credit also goes to Park Jisung, Cho Jaejin, Lee Chunsoo, Kim Nam-il and the rest of the team.
Dick Advocaat has done a good job.

My Junghwan? Ah, he is so adorable.

DAEHANMINGUK!!!

Assalamualaykum.
Coming back to work after 2 weeks of school break feels terrible.
I only arrived to school at 7am this morning and already I am homesick.
I miss my mum, abah, sisters, nephews and niece.
=(
I spent the whole 2 weeks at home.
My activities were babysitting,k-drama(over and over again),forced my mum to cook my favorite dishes, shopping, window shopping etc, etc.
'Rumahku Syurgaku'??
That is so true!!

So, World Cup anyone?
Now that my body is 3 degrees above room temperature, PILLE said I'm officially having a FOOTBALL FEVER.
I sure am.Hehe.
Maybe I'm not really into football like I used to back in college, but I still enjoy watching the games.
This year I will be supporting Asian team South Korea.
The 2002 FIFA WC I supported Portugal but not anymore, baby!!
Though with Ronaldo C. and Figo on the team, my heart is still for Daehanminguk..
Hurra!!

DAEHANMINGUK!!!!

oh-so-nice..

Assalamualaykum.
The month of May is full of celebrations pour moi.

1 May is Labour Day.
How to celebrate this one?
I've no idea. But heck, should be thankful as it's a holiday for us workers a.k.a government servants.

14 May is Mother's Day and the 23rd birthday of yours truly.
I took a day off school that day.
Thought I needed a rest at home with family since I'm not coming back the weekend after. (Which is today.)

16 May
is Teacher's Day.
The celebration was quite okay, more organized than the previous year.
Yet I performed badly this year, had no time to practice before performing 'I Will Survive' on the stage that day.
(What difference will it make? With or without practice,my singing still s***s! haha.)
Paul Moss would've kicked my butt off if I was to try my luck in Malaysian Idol. +LOL+
All in all, it was a fun day.
Got a handful of gifts too.

But the most memorable one was when I reached home and called my brother.
He told me that my sister in law gave birth to a healthy baby boy that afternoon.
Alhamdulillah, a new member to our family.
Born on the Teacher's Day. =)

There you have it.
5 (celebrations) in 1 (month).
And one more is coming soon.

26 May, I'll start my mid year holidays for 2 weeks.
Now that calls for a vast celebration!
He he he.

Wassalam.

PostScript: My brother hasn't figured out a name for my nephew. Any suggestions?

ATTENTION!!!

Assalamualaykum.

As the FIFA World Cup is just around the corner, there's something I'd like to share with everyone out there.
Or should I say a WARNING to all women out there.. (wives, girlfriends, daughters, mothers, sisters etc..)
I got this from my Alma Mater's OGA blog.
Have a good laugh..
But women, do obey.
Just to be safe. ;)

List Of Rules.

1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).

3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor...it wont happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

6. Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break up or divorce.

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
a) I will not go,
b) I will not go, and
c) I will not go.

10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch??", the reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".

12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League, etc etc.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards,
Men of the World

pong!!

Assalamualaykum..

Hey, I never knew table tennis / ping pong can be a fun sport.
Played the game for a couple of days now,
and I'm loving it..
My students are actually teaching me how to play it..
(Yeah, finally they know something that I don't..sheesh~)

Anyhoo, yesterday just wasn't my day.
Hate my school's admin so much I broke down crying.
They surely know how to spoil my day by not telling me in advance things that they wanted me to "help".
So what if you're older?
Does that mean you don't need to respect young people's feelings?
That you can do anything you like and decide everything.
Hey, I too, am a grown up now.
Don't I need a little understanding and respect?

Thank goodness Maya called.
And she made my day (as 'twas her birthday too yesterday..)
God, I miss her so much.

crazy

Assalamualaykum.
Take a deep breath.
My brain hasn't gone haywire because of the stupid antenna.
It's functioning normally as I went back home for the weekend and spent time with the kids.

Yup, they're my cure of boredom, tiredness, sadness, loneliness etc.
Wonder what I'm up to lately?
K-drama a.k.a Koreanovela.
That's what I'm crazy about at the moment.
Shambie introduced me to a site which I can download series that have not been aired in Msia.
I'm downloading GOONG (means 'palace') now. =D
An interesting drama and surely worth downloading. (as for yours truly that is..)
Actually that's the bright side of having my antenna broken.
I wouldn't have been so desperate to look for k-dramas if I still have my tv functioning.
And now that I've found the webbie, tv seems less important. +LOL+
Nah~ It's not the same.
I still need my television.

Wassalam~

tv=life

Assalamualaykum.
That is one thing I can't live without (besides my handphone and internet).
Yup, television.
Here's the story.

Yesterday there was a heavy downpour at my place.
Along with strong wind and thunder etc.
And I was alone in my room, finishing up my bowl of Mawi's curry instant noodle while watching tv.
[My housemate's away for her convocation.]
Oh, and did I mention that in my area, we could only get RTM1, RTM2 and NTV7?
Yes, not even TV3.. :(
That was not half as bad, because for me, as long as I can watch K-dramas, sitcoms and news (@least once a day) then nothing else matters.
I don't need ASTRO. (or should it be I can't afford ASTRO?!] +LOL+
Now, back to my sad,sad story..
It was a Hindustani movie 'Gayab'(means 'ghaib'/ vanished) on NTV7 at that time.
Suddenly the screen turned blank.
Ironic?
I was not shocked because that happened on rare occassions.
I switched channels and RTM1 & 2 slowly turned out to be the same.
Blank.
I didn't know what urged me and I went out to look at the antenna.
My, my, my...
The pole broke in two!!! And the antenna was damaged too.
There was absolutely nothing anyone can do to fix it.

Think my story's not sad?
Try living in Setiu, all alone, with limited contact with the outside world..
No internet, no entertainment, no shopping complex etc.
(Btw I'm using my school's Streamyx now)..
Then you'll think again how BORING it is to be me and actually have to spend my life here.
Geez, I need friends.

p/s: Please bear with me.. I'm stressed.

Wassalam~

cherish.

Assalamualaykum.
Has anyone heard this song? Or familiar with it?
Geez, I almost cried when I saw the clip.
This is MY STORY, people... =(

Run To You - Whitney Houston

I know that when you look at me
There’s so much that you just don’t see
But if you would only take the time
I know in my heart you’d find
A girl who’s scared sometimes
Who isn’t always strong
Can’t you see the hurt in me?
I feel so all alone

I wanna run to you (oooh)
I wanna run to you (oooh)
Won’t you hold me in your arms
And keep me safe from harm
I wanna run to you (oooh)
But if I come to you (oooh)
Tell me, will you stay or will you run away

Each day, each day I play the role
Of someone always in control
But at night I come home and turn the key
There’s nobody there, no one cares for me
What’s the sense of trying hard to find your dreams
Without someone to share it with
Tell me what does it mean?

I need you here
I need you here to wipe away my tears
To kiss away my fears
If you only knew how much...

Again!!

Assalamualaykum.

Petrol price up again? I was getting ready for school when I heard the 6am news that day. Without any warnings, the Government had decided to raise the price for gasoline, diesel and LPG. And I, as an obidient citizen accepted the 'fate' with despair. "Kuasa bukan di tangan saya." There goes my monthly salary~

The retail price for petroleum products including diesel will be raised by another 30 sen effective Tuesday.
Yup, I've felt the pressure due to the increment. The consequence: I had to spend my weekend in Setiu rather than driving back to KB. It's a torture!!
The increase was to tackle the impact from the increase in the price of crude petroleum in the world market and to curb the increase in subsidy which had to be borne by the government, the statement said.
I pity our government for that, but the citizens are suffering too!! We do not have fuel allowances, for God's sake! Not like some people.
However, the statement said that the government gave an assurance that there would be no further raise in the retail price of petroleum products this year.

And that means there'll be a raise AGAIN in 2007?? Or worse, a few more raises? I'm sick of this. Still, the possibility is there, right?
The new price of RON 97 petrol is now 192 sen per litre, RON 92 Petrol -- 188 sen per litre, Diesel -- 158.1 sen per litre and LPG -- 175 sen per kilogram.
Well, in Terengganu RON 97 is sold at 193 sen per litre and Kelantan 194 sen.
"Although the government is raising the price of petroleum products, diesel and LPG, the price of petrol and diesel in Malaysia is still cheaper compared to the price of most of these products in the Asean countries except for Brunei Darussalam," the statement said.
What do we care about other countries? It's none of our business. It's us who are suffering here.

There you have it. This is what you get when you own a car. Think again if you think of getting one. Unless, somebody else's paying for your gas. Wassalam~

adapted.

Assalamualaykum.

Rather than asking readers [yup, suddenly my blog is a HIT now! I even have AVID visitor..] to visit tkcoga blog or put a link in this post, might as well I paste excerpts from K.Ruby's August entry entitled "LIFE". Hence, today's post is not originally mine, just thought of sharing something with you.

Life...

"Life is not a bed of roses. Hmmm... or is it?Wouldn't it be nice to have a bed of roses at your house? Sweet-looking, sweet-smelling roses of various colours? Must be beautiful. Now go jump onto the bed of roses. OUCH!! Thorny isn't it?
So life IS like a bed of roses after all. Sweet... but thorny and can be painful nevertheless. You're probably thinking that I must be crazy to even suggest jumping onto a bed of roses... but I was just trying to give an example of how even the sweetest things have setbacks. And that's how life is.
When you're poor you wish you're rich. You think your problems will be over when you become rich. Then you become rich... and eventually you'll learn that there are other things you have to worry about when you're rich. And that not everything can be solved by being rich.
Sometimes you wish you could just breeze through life without any obstacles. But really, a life without obstacles is like going to school without learning anything. What a waste....
When things don't turn out the way you wished they did, sometimes you get upset. Sometimes you get disappointed. Sometimes you get angry. And when you're upset and angry, you tend to do things, which you think, is the best course of action at that point of time. You don't think of the after-effects of your action. You don't think of the hikmah of your disappointment. You just do what you THINK is best at that point... and then at another point of your life (may be just after... may be much later...) you have regrets and wish you had dealt with it in a different manner.
Yes, things can go wrong even on the brightest of all days. You can wake up on a bright and sunny day, feeling energetic and all ready to go to work. Things can still go wrong. On a very small scale, you may get stuck in a terrible traffic jam or you may get stuck in the lift on your way up to your office. On a slightly bigger scale, you may get involved in a road accident no matter how careful you are. Or on an even bigger scale, when you least expect it, a plane may crash into the building you're in, causing the whole building to collapse...
No matter what happens to you, there are lessons to be learnt. Concentrate on the lessons, NOT on the disappointments. Easier said than done, I know... but what is past is over and done with, and no matter what science fictions tell us, there is no way we can step into a time machine to go back in time to correct things. Such being the case, we might as well try to learn something out of it.
We are not able to tell our future. We can only plan. We need sunshine, we need rain... but only Allah, the MOST powerful, can give us all those. Only Allah knows what's best for us. So while we must still try to plan our life to the very best, let's just be thankful with our destiny.
That's how life is. Full of lessons. Full of hikmah. "

There you are. True, isn't it? LIFE is full of lessons. It's up to us to take up what's best. A serious post this time? Sigh~

hate

Assalamualaykum.

I hate myself today. For not being able to forget things that I should've get off my mind. And soul. When I thought that things will turn out okay, that's when I'm reminded time and again about 'em. Talking in riddles, am I? Pardon me people, as I'm not being myself today.

Be grateful of what Allah has given. Every cloud has a silver lining, they say. Even if things look very bad, there must be some good outcome as well. InsyaAllah.

Should I not hate myself? Maybe I shouldn't. Friends and family are always around for me.Wassalam~

aloha!

Assalamualaykum.

A Hawaiian spirit for me today? ha ha. I really need a vacation. [even though I just came back from a 6-day break!] Frankly, I don't know why going back home every weekend is a must for me. "Rumahku Syurgaku"??.. he he.. Yeah, maybe that's true.

By the way, I went for a medical check up yesterday @ Klinik Kesihatan Kota Bharu. The doctor told me I have a big (if not enormous) heart. Literally. [Jantung=heart, Hati=liver, right??!!] Anyhoo, I quickly asked him what he meant by that. Whether it's good or bad for my body. Alhamdulillah, the answer was positive. I do have a big heart,people.. Literally or figuratively. +LOL+ [And now surely am a big-headed person too!]

Just now, I got a message from an old friend through a close friend of mine [is my sentence understandable?]. It made my 'big' heart sank after reading it. I won't go into details here regarding the content of the message nor explain which old friend gave the message, but all I can say is that person has a special spot in my heart. Everything about him touches my soul. Chewah!!!! [Yeah, I should stop writing now, shouldn't I? ha ha ha]

Be posting a longer and more interesting entry soon. Till then, have a nice life.

Wassalam~
