Bliss..

"Long absent, soon forgotten." -Spanish proverb.

Assalamualaykum.

After reading that quote yesterday, I quickly decided to blog.
Afraid that friends might forget me if I don't write. He he.
Truth be told, I had a long list of things that I want to share with those who are reading my oh-so-lame blog. (not that there are many..ha ha..)
But as always, whenever I actually ready to post an entry, none of them came into mind.
(At this moment a very beautiful Hindi song is on air. Can't recall from which movie, but it's very soothing.)

The whole of last week Malaysians were busy with Her Royal Coyness' (referring to Suraya Al-Attas' nick for (now Datin) Siti) wedding etc.
In fact just last night her big wedding reception was broadcasted, and I heard that there were so many VVIPs attended that event.
(K Ruby, were you there?? He he he.)
Oh,FYI, I didn't watch the live telecast.
Take a guess which channel I watched last night? LOL
Congratulations to Siti and husband anyway, may this be her first and last marriage.
Aminnnnnnnnnn~

Anyhoo, yesterday I finally managed to visit the Istana Budaya's website.
Was trying to look for the infos (for my dearest K Ruby) on Mawi's concert there in mid September.
(By now you must've think I'm Mawi's die hard fan, right? Ha ha ha. Not die hard la, just a regular fan.)
The concert's aim is to collect funds for PERYATIM (Persatuan Anak² Yatim Malaysia).
The money will be used for the orphans to further their study at Kolej Teknologi Bestari (KTB), Setiu.
(KTB is within walking distance from your truly's rumah sewa.)

I was reading seen_er's blog this morning when I read about the Konsert Irama Tanah Pusaka II which he and future wifey attended.
Seemed like they had a great time at Istana Budaya.
And I bet K Ruby's also planning to catch Boney M's show this weekend.
Hopefully she'll have a splendid time too.

As for yours truly, the true entertainment awaits tomorrow.
And it is in the form of me spending time with my nephews and niece.

Till then, have a nice day today.

Wassalam.

childlike.

Assalamualaykum.

Last Thursday I managed to meet up with my best friend Aboon as she was around for her cousin's "bekwoh".
We went to Perkampungan Hadhari to catch a glimpse of Mawi.
(Okay, I dragged her there.. so what?! =p)

MAWI???????!!!
Typical,ey?? Or lame??
Ha ha ha.
Call me whatever you like but I was determined to meet him since the last few times he came down to Kelate, I was not able to make it.

I was very satisfied as I got to see him 2 times (at different booths).
I told Aboon that it was the 'kanak-kanak' side of me, wanting to meet Mawi so much.
Too bad the fans were not allowed to take pictures with him.
A bit dissappointing but heck, I got to meet him eye-to-eye.

That day we also got to see Que Haidar, the actor.
I think he won the Most Promising Male Actor in the previous Malaysia Film Festival.
Aboon was over excited, actually. Ha ha.
But he was an eye candy, reminds us of the late Allahyarham Sudirman.

Will be blogging again some time soon.
Adios,chicas!!

Wassalam~

oh,Tijah!!

Assalamualaykum,

Last Thursday a friend of mine sent me a forwarded message.
I usually don't give a damn when this kind of messages interrupted my inbox.
I had a real good laugh whilst reading the message.
But being a 'responsible' teacher, I think I should share this with you readers.

Apparently this was (according to my old pal), Tijah's (pseudonym) attempt to break off the relationship with her Mat Salleh boyfriend.

Hi,
My motive write this letter to give know you something.
I WANT TO CUT CONNECTION US.
I saw you play wood three in front my eyes.
So, I break connection to pull my body from this love.
I have think about this very cook-cook.
I know I clap one hand only.
I don't trust you again!
You are really crocodile land!!
I don't want you to play-play with my liver.
I have been crying until no more eye water.
I don't want banana to fruit two times.
SAFE WALK!!

Do you think her boyfriend got the idea?
LOL.

This is what I've been telling my little students, you know.
The dangers of direct translation!
Even though there are some BM phrases that we can translate directly (and also grammatically correct), most of the time they can't.

My way to curb this problem is, (for me) by reading.
Familiarize ourselves with the language.
Then we won't end up giving false ideas to somebody.
This is what yours truly is doing too, read and write in English as much as I can.
(Pastu French dah tak ingat langsung! Je ne sais pas pourquoi!!)

In Tijah's case, we should give her credit la for trying.
Don't you think?

So, the moral of the story is....?

Reorganized.

Assalamualaykum.

I've rearranged the left sidebar so it looks more organized.
Feel free to browse my fellow thoroughbreds' blogs and others.
Some of them are very interesting to read!
And I've also put links to my favourite download sites.
If you have better suggestions for [free mp3] download sites, do tell me.
Why? I'm looking for Oasis' STAND BY ME for ages, but to no avail.

Will be blogging some other time.
Soon, I hope so.
Take care my dears.

Wassalam.

PostScript: Happy Birthday Ms Hazreen Izua (TKC9701),may Allah bless you.

food (glorious food of Kelate)

Assalamualaykum.

If some of you notice, in my Alma Mater's blog nowadays there seem to have a discussion on Kelantan in almost every comment of the previous entries.
The people, the dialects and obviously its (glorious and yummy) food.
I was browsing the Net to find pictures of "akok" for K Ruby when I found this fotopages.
http://raykinzoku.fotopages.com/
It's a Kelantanese fotopage where the author diplays his (or is it her?) collection of Kelate pictures.
The buildings in KB, the billboards (with models wearing tudung and Jawi font) etc.
And of course, my favourite is "Jalae-jalae Carghi Makae pt 1+2" (Jalan-jalan Cari Makan).
Looking at those pictures, made me homesick.
(Yeah, I'm only 1 1/2 hour away from KB but still, I miss Kelate so much!)

To K Ruby, this is especially for you:

The akok's from Nik Yam, and it's delicious. (I think my sister usually buys akok from this makcik.)
But the best from Nik Yam is obviously the "Murtabak diRaja" (Royal Murtabak).
The murtabak has I think about 5 layers, it's so thick (about 1 1/2 inches) and has a lot of filling.
*gulp*
(my,my...I'm drooling~)

And according to raykinzoku, the best ayam perchik is not the ones from the famous Yati Ayam Perchik (as opposed to mr seen_er's opinion and mine too).
But they are from Kak Nah's Ayam Perchik.
(Yes, I also am not familiar with it, but I'll look for it after this.)
By the way, this is Kak Nah (I think) and her mouth-watering Ayam and Ikan Perchik.

Looks yummmmmmy? Slurpppppppppp~
Anyway, the kuih in the plastic container is "wajik" I think.
Or known as "nasi manis" to the Kelantanese.
That was my arwah Tok We's special.

Fyi, when I was surfing the net, I found an interesting blog.
The author is from Terengganu if I'm not mistaken.
He translated Chairil Ahmad's poem into Terengganu dialect and 'twas hilarious.
Funny, but I'll write more about it next week.

My students have just finished their UPSR trials, and I'm off to Kota Bharu in a few minutes.
Gonna visit "Pesta Makanan" at Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV with my sister.
He he he he.

Wassalam.

p/s: Don't worry K Ruby and Seen_er, I'll eat the akoks for you. LOL
